Congratulations on the win. Great plays, a high score, and best of all — you lifted each other up as a team. Victor, those two pass breakups were excellent. Sometimes the best defensive play is simply making sure the receiver never gets the ball, and you did exactly that. You are important to this team because Nebraska needs confident coverage guys who can be trusted when opponents decide to attack through the air.
Rex, I already mentioned the interception because it deserves it twice. That was a beautiful way to finish the game — five tackles, a pick and a 35-yard return. You were making plays when Nebraska needed them and then gave the defense the perfect exclamation point. You are important to this team because you have the ability to turn defensive effort into momentum-changing plays.
Dawson, your energy stood out to me today. Four tackles and a tackle for loss showed up in the box score, but I liked the way you attacked the game. You are important to this team because Nebraska needs linebackers who play with that kind of confidence and physicality.
Jeremiah, you got in there and competed, and your tackle was part of a defensive front that kept working all the way through the game. Those late snaps matter because they build confidence and depth. Donovan, you were active in the secondary today and finished with four tackles and two pass breakups. I liked how you stayed engaged throughout the game and kept competing even after Nebraska had built the lead. You are important to this team because having defensive backs who continue to play with intensity for four quarters is how good defenses become great ones.
Jahsear, you brought pressure when Ohio was trying to get comfortable, and that half-sack and quarterback hurry were exactly the kind of disruptive plays the defense needed. You kept attacking even as the game moved along. You are important to this team because relentless pressure up front makes everybody behind you better.
Williams, I loved seeing your athleticism on the defensive line today. You got involved, made a tackle and were part of a front that became much more disruptive as the game went on. Ohio had some early success, but Nebraska's defense eventually took over. You are important to this team because your size and athleticism give this defensive line another way to attack offenses.
Jordan, you brought good energy to the defensive line today and helped keep the rotation fresh. Two tackles in the game and, more importantly, continued work in the trenches helped Nebraska wear Ohio down. You are important to this team because defensive-line depth is going to matter more and more as the season gets tougher.
Kyle, you were perfect today. Seven extra points, seven makes. Every time Nebraska found the end zone, you calmly did your job and made sure those touchdowns became seven points. That's consistency. You are important to this team because the team needs someone it can count on when the pressure is on, and you showed that today.
John, you were busy today, putting eight kickoffs in the air and helping Nebraska consistently reset the field after those touchdowns. When an offense scores seven times, somebody has to keep handling that part of the job. You are important to this team because dependable special teams help turn offensive success into field-position advantages.
Archie, you did your job today and gave Nebraska a dependable option when it needed to flip the field. Three punts for 120 yards, including one inside the 20, is exactly the kind of steady special-teams work that can get overlooked when the offense is scoring 49 points. You are important to this team because field position still matters, and Nebraska needs someone it trusts with that responsibility.
Gunnar, watching that offensive line gradually take over was impressive, and you were a big part of it. Nebraska finished with 248 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, and that doesn't happen without the big guys controlling the line of scrimmage. You are important to this team because your consistency up front gives everyone else the chance to make the exciting plays.
Paul, I really appreciated the work you and the rest of the offensive line put in today. When Nebraska started leaning on the run in the second half, you could feel the difference up front. You are important to this team because none of those big plays from Jamal, Mekhi or Isaiah happen without guys like you doing the dirty work first.

You looked like you belonged out there from the moment you stepped on the field. You are important to this team because you just showed everyone that Nebraska has another weapon defenses are going to have to prepare for.
Dexter, you brought some serious heat today. Five tackles, a pass breakup and three quarterback hurries — you were making Ohio's quarterback feel you. From the stands, you could see the defense gradually taking control, and your pressure was a big part of that. You are important to this team because pressure changes everything for a defense and makes the entire unit more dangerous.
Victor, I loved the way you competed in the secondary today. Even though your defensive stat line doesn't show a tackle, you broke up two passes, and those plays matter. Sometimes doing your job means making sure the ball never gets completed in the first place. You are important to this team because Nebraska needs corners who can be trusted to make plays when the ball is in the air.
Isaiah, you gave the offense a spark right from the beginning. That 24-yard run was one of the first plays where I thought, "Okay, Nebraska is going to be able to run this football." You finished with 31 yards on six carries and kept bringing that physical energy to the backfield. You are important to this team because you give Nebraska another runner who can hit a hole and create something when the offense needs it.
Rex, that interception was an awesome way to finish the game. I was watching from the stadium and you could feel the game was completely in Nebraska's hands, and then you put an exclamation point on it with that pick and 35-yard return. Five tackles on top of that. You are important to this team because you bring the kind of playmaking ability in the secondary that can completely change a game.
Quinn, you made your opportunity count today. Your catch was a small part of the overall stat sheet, but you were part of a receiving group that kept giving Anthony different options throughout the afternoon. I love seeing players stay ready and make the most of their chances. You are important to this team because championship teams need guys who can step in and contribute whenever their number is called.
Mekhi, you were electric today. That 29-yard touchdown run was the kind of play that changes the entire feel of a game, and then you came back in the fourth quarter with that unbelievable 51-yard touchdown catch. You finished with 64 rushing yards and 65 receiving yards and two touchdowns. From the stands, it was impossible not to notice you every time you touched the ball. You are important to this team because you give Nebraska another explosive weapon defenses have to account for every single snap.
Nyziah, I really liked the way you competed today. You only got one reception, but it was a good one, and I noticed you staying involved and continuing to work even when the ball wasn't coming your way constantly. That's what good receivers do. You are important to this team because Nebraska needs experienced playmakers who stay ready — your opportunity can come on any snap.
Cameron, you brought the kind of physicality you want from the edge today. Ohio tried to make things uncomfortable early, but you and the guys up front kept working until the defense completely changed the feel of the game. Your pressure and effort mattered even when the play didn't end with your name in the stat line. I know that opening play from Ohio wasn't what anybody wanted to see, but what I noticed was that you immediately got involved and kept competing instead of letting one play define you. That's football. You stayed with it, and the defense got better as the game went on. Anthony, what a way to start your Husker career. I was watching you from the stands and you could literally see the confidence grow as the game went on. You threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns, ran for another touchdown, and most importantly, you didn't let the early adversity rattle you. That second half felt like you took control of the game. You are important to this team because Nebraska needs a quarterback who can make plays, stay composed and give everyone around him confidence.
Anthony, I saw the physicality you brought to the defensive front today. Ohio came out trying to establish itself, and the defensive line kept fighting until Nebraska eventually took control of the game. Janiran, I loved seeing you out there competing and being part of the receiver rotation. Not every contribution shows up in the stat sheet, and from the stands you could see how much work goes into keeping that offense moving and giving the quarterback options. Your willingness to do your job and stay ready matters. You are important to this team because depth and reliability at receiver are going to make this offense much harder to defend all season.
Kwazi, you really impressed me today. You kept finding ways to get open, you gave Anthony a reliable target when he needed one, and then you capped it off with that touchdown late in the fourth. Five catches, 58 yards and a touchdown is a great way to start your Husker season. Watching you out there, you looked comfortable and confident, and that's exciting. You are important to this team because you give Nebraska another receiver defenses simply cannot afford to overlook.
Jacory, watching you today, you just looked like a guy who was ready to make something happen every time the ball came your way. That 27-yard catch early was one of those plays where you could see your explosiveness immediately, and you finished with five catches for 60 yards while adding eight yards on the ground. I loved the energy and confidence you brought. You are such an important part of what makes this offense dangerous because you give this team someone who can turn an ordinary play into something special.
