Las Vegas, let’s fill our new team with love before the puck drops.
Las Vegas has its first women’s pro hockey team, and they play their very first home game at T-Mobile Arena on December 6. Let’s show them how much this city already believes in them. Write a sincere compliment for the players, the coaches or the team staff. I’ll gather every one and share them with the team.

This is a community invitation from Dawn Weir and Compliments for Change. PWHL Las Vegas and the Professional Women’s Hockey League haven’t partnered with or endorsed it. Every compliment is read with care and shared with the team as a gift.
The countdown
Eighteen days from first practice to first game.
The players meet each other at training camp on November 18. On December 6 they skate out together for the first time. Let’s have the city’s compliments waiting for them.

How to write one that lands
Make it specific. Make it sincere.
A compliment a player remembers names something real and says why it matters. Three quick periods:
- 1st period
Notice something real
Their effort, their teamwork, their courage, the way they chose a brand-new team in a brand-new city.
- 2nd period
Say why it matters
What it means to you, your daughter, your family or this city.
- 3rd period
Keep it about heart
Effort, character and team spirit. Never bodies or looks, and no favors attached.
To the coaches
“Thank you for building a team from scratch that plays for each other. That’s the kind of team Vegas loves.”
To the team staff
“You sharpen the skates, tape the sticks and make game night happen. Almost nobody sees it. We see you.”
From a hockey family
“My daughter plays here in Las Vegas. Because of you, she can watch women play pro hockey in her own city.”
