The workbooks
The workbooks. Here’s a look inside.
Dawn’s programs come with workbooks, written by Dawn and filled in by you. Every blank line is meant to be written on, there are no wrong answers, only true ones, and each workbook goes home with the person who filled it in.
From the C4C at Work workbook
“A gift is gone by Tuesday. A compliment goes home.”
A gift card buys one lunch. A sincere compliment gets retold at the dinner table, heard by the kids, and passed on the next morning.

What a real compliment is
It’s specific, it’s true, and it’s said out loud. The formula: what I noticed + the difference it made + the quality it shows.
“I noticed you walked the new guy through the lockout steps twice without rushing him. He’s going to remember that. That’s real patience.”
Exercise: fix these weak compliments.
“Good job.” → ______________________
“You’re awesome.” → ______________________

The line you never cross
Correct the action, never the person.
- Crushes:“You’re always late.”
- Corrects:“You’ve clocked in after 8:00 four times this month.”
- Crushes:“You’re careless.”
- Corrects:“The ladder was left open in the walkway.”
Words to drop: always, never, attitude, lazy, why can’t you.

Always check it out loud
A reading is a first impression, so offer it gently and let them tell you if it fits.
“You seem like someone who plans three steps ahead. Am I right?”
Most people light up. And if you’re wrong, they’ll tell you who they really are, which is even better.

For the leader being coached
Leader Shadow Coaching: the Coaching Record.

- PlusThe Notice, Ask, Believe debrief, the leader’s action plan and daily habit, and a then-and-now check at the follow-up visit.
