Personology · Taught by Dawn
Understand people. Then say the right thing.
Have you ever met someone and felt drawn to them right away? Wondered why one person wants every detail and another just wants the answer? Why you click with some people and can’t reach others? Personology is the old art of reading faces, and Dawn teaches it as a way to notice people, understand them, and speak to them in a way that lands.
What Personology is
“Every face tells a story. Personology teaches you to notice it, wonder about it, and then go find out.”
Dawn trained in Personology at the Myotherapy College of Utah in Salt Lake City, completing level 3 in 2001.

More than reading a face
It isn’t memorizing what a nose means.
Anyone can look up a list of features. That isn’t the skill. The skill is learning to really look at the person in front of you, notice what you used to miss, and check your first impression against what they actually say and do.
Dawn uses traditional face reading as a starting point: a reason to be curious, ask a better question and choose better words. People communicate differently, take in information differently, and handle pressure differently. Once you can see those differences, you stop treating everyone the same, and people notice.
Traditional face reading
Where it comes from, and what face readers have said about each feature for centuries.
How people differ
How people talk, decide, react and like to be treated, and why it isn’t the same for everyone.
Noticing
The details you walk past every day: the face, the mood, the change from someone’s normal.
Real-life practice
Everyday moments at work and at home, and the words to use in each one.
Why you should know this
Everything good in business and in life goes through people.
The sale, the hire who stays, the customer who comes back, the kid who finally listens. Every one of them depends on understanding the person in front of you. Personology gives you a head start.
In sales
Know in the first minute whether this customer wants every detail or just the bottom line. Notice when interest rises and when it fades, and fit your pitch to the person, not the script.
For managers
See the hard day before it turns into a bad week, or a resignation. Know who wants praise in front of the team and who would rather hear it quietly.
With customers
Read what an upset customer needs sooner: a fix, an apology, or just to be heard. Calm the room faster.
For teachers and coaches
Reach the quiet one and the loud one in different ways, because they hear you in different ways.
At home and in love
Understand why the people you live with react the way they do, and say it in a way they can take in.
In yourself
See why you do what you do, how you like to be appreciated, and what you might be telling people without saying a word.
And it all comes back to the compliment
“The same compliment lands differently on different people. Personology helps you give the one that fits.”
Interactive · Try it on yourself
Grab a mirror. Let’s read your face.
Use a mirror or your phone’s camera. Pick what looks closest to you, and see what traditional face reading says about it, and what it may mean for how you like to be appreciated.
This is two features out of many. The full reading looks at the whole face and how the features work together. That’s what Dawn teaches, and it’s all in your workbook.
Nothing you pick leaves this page.
Personology · A taste
How Dawn teaches it
The basics first. Then the face, one feature at a time.
Reading about a subject gives you information. Practicing it on real people is what makes it yours. Every session is hands-on, and everyone leaves with a workbook that walks through every feature.
- Step 1
The basics
How face reading works, the three zones of the face, and the difference between the face you were born with and the expression you’re making right now.
- Step 2
The features
The forehead, the brows, the eyes, the nose, the mouth and lips, the jaw and chin: what traditional face reading says about each one.
- Step 3
Reading it live
Faces, moods and hard days. What changes from someone’s normal, and what it may be telling you today.
- Step 4
Putting it to work
Fit your compliment, your pitch and your hard conversation to the person, then check your first impression against what they actually do.
The full feature-by-feature guide, Dawn’s practice exercises, the observation sheet she uses, and the words to use with each kind of person. It’s handed out in the session, not posted online. See a page from it →
Supervisors and managers, sales teams, front desks and customer service, teachers and coaches, and anyone whose work runs through people. No psychology background needed. Just curiosity.
The honest part
Not an exact science. Right more often than not.
Personology is not an exact science, and we will never tell you a face proves who someone is. In Dawn’s years of using it since 2001, it has been right more often than not. And even when it’s wrong, it starts a better conversation than guessing.
Scientists still argue about how much a face can tell you, and they agree on one thing: what people do over time tells you more. So Dawn teaches Personology as a first clue, then teaches you to check it against what you see.
How Dawn teaches you to use it
- A first clue, not a final answer. What you notice is a reason to be curious and kind.
- See it, then ask.Write down what you saw, what you guessed, and what you learned later. Let the person prove you right or wrong.
- Never to judge.Never to hire, fire, label or write someone up. A face is a reason to reach out, never a reason to shut someone out.
- Behavior wins. When what someone does disagrees with their face, believe what they do.

Questions
Good to know.
Is Personology the same as body language?
No. Body language is about what someone is doing right now. Personology looks at the face itself, the features you were born with, and what traditional face reading says about them. Dawn teaches both, and how they fit together.
Does it really work?
It’s not an exact science, and we don’t pretend it is. In Dawn’s experience since 2001, it is right more often than not. That’s why she teaches it as a first clue you check against what people do, never as proof.
Why don’t you put the whole method online?
Because it takes practice, not a list. The feature-by-feature guide and the exercises are in the workbook you get in the session, where Dawn can show you, answer questions and have you try it on real faces.
Can we use it to hire people?
No, and we teach that clearly. A face should never decide who gets hired, promoted or disciplined. Use it to be curious, connect and choose kinder words.
Is it only for business?
It’s built for teams, but it works anywhere there are people: sales, schools, families and relationships. Ask Dawn on a call about your group.
Understanding people isn’t just about what you see.
It’s about what you learn when you take the time to look deeper. Bring Personology to your team.
